Verde GSE manufactures ground-support equipment for aircraft, specifically, pre-conditioned air (PCA). An affiliated company, Power Technology Industries, is developing power GSE, to provide 400 Hz, 200/115 V power to aircraft. KPE has been collaborating with PTI since 2014 to provide advanced technology for their commercial development.
Dr. Kimball was a founder of SmartSpark Energy Systems, which became SolarBridge Technologies. In 2008, he ceased to have a regular, day-to-day relationship with SBT but continued on in a consulting role through 2014, when SBT was acquired by SunPower.
Speedline Technologies, based in Camdenton, MO, manufactures reflow ovens. KPE assisted in the analysis of an interaction between power converters and blower motors. This work spanned 2011-2014.
Basler Electric, based in Highland, IL, manufactures excitation systems for synchronous generators (among other product families). KPE assisted with simulations and analysis at various times.
The Missouri S&T Satellite Team is currently building a satellite in two parts, MR SAT and MRS SAT. This is a microsatellite, significantly larger than a CubeSat but small enough to fit on a table top. KPE is building the electric power system, or rather, the power conversion portion of the EPS. This consists of: … Read more
ITW Military GSE, located in Palmetto, FL, manufactures ground support equipment for military aircraft. A typical GSE unit supplies pre-conditioned air (to cool the avionics) and power (either 400 Hz or 270 V dc) so that the aircraft systems can run without the engine. KPE worked on both the main power converter and a variable … Read more
